Launching a new 4-cylinder turbo petrol
The Volvo S80, V70 and XC60 will receive from the summer 2010 a new 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol combining performance and economy.
A gasoline that has all of a diesel
Volvo starts after the fashion of “downsizing” by launching a new petrol engine on its larger models: S80 , V70 and XC60 . With a capacity of 2 liters, 4 cylinder is equipped with the latest technology: direct injection, low inertia turbocharger, variable valve timing on intake and exhaust VVT. Of course, it meets the future Euro 5 pollution standards.
The result is a power of 203 hp at 6,000 rpm for a constant torque of 300 Nm from 1750 to 4000 rpm. The couple may even rise temporarily (when overtaking for example) to 320 Nm thanks to the “overboost”.
Coupled with a mechanical transmission 6-speed or dual-clutch Powershift gearbox (similar to the Volkswagen DSG), this 2.0 GTDi consumes between 7.9 and 9.6 l/100 km according to models.
