New SAAB 9-5, appreciated by professionals and entrepreneurs, offers a range of engines capable of meeting all expectations in terms of choice of fuel and engine. For the 2011 model year, a 2.0-liter turbo diesel 190 hp (2.0 TTiD) is proposed for the first time with the Saab XWD (four wheel drive). The petrol range is supplemented by the addition of a turbocharged 1.6-liter, 180 hp.Furthermore, the 2.0-liter turbo BioPower can run on gasoline or E85 fuel (85% debioéthanol, 15% gasoline) is also available for the year 2011.
The model 2.0 TTiD
This powerful turbo diesel engine with a two-stage turbo generates a torque of 400 Nm from just 1750 rpm, and maximum power of 190HP. The result in terms of acceleration is 80 to 120 km / h in fifth gear in just 8.4 seconds and zero to 100 km / h in under nine seconds. Combined cycle fuel consumption of 6.0 litres/100km and CO2 emissions of 159 g / km.
The sequential system has two stages of charge and uses two turbochargers of different sizes with by-pass valves that directs the flow of exhaust gas to the turbines. At low speeds, the small turbocharger delivers its load regardless of engine load. At intermediate speeds under heavy load, the two turbochargers provide boost pressure, while at high speeds or heavy load, only the larger turbo is engaged.
This process allows the driver to get the best of both worlds: instant torque at low revs through the low-inertia small turbo, and super power at higher speeds when the turbo is big in action.
The 2.0 version is available on TTiD Linear, Vector and Aero, with optional four-wheel drive Saab XWD.All versions come standard with rear suspension arm H. It uses two independent supports for a smoother ride and also reduces vibration in the cockpit and improved handling.
The model 1.6 Turbo petrol
This small, highly efficient engine optimization strategy embodies the Saab engines. Developing over 112 hp per liter, it is among the most powerful engines of mass production in its displacement category.
This high power, supported by a torque of 230 Nm from 2200 rpm to 5,500 rpm (including an overboost function), can go from zero to 100 km / h in 9.5 seconds. Combined cycle fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are 7.8 l/100 km and 179 g / km respectively.
This engine is available on the Linear and Vector versions, only two-wheel drive version.
The model 2.0-liter turbo BioPower
The 9-5 range also includes the term’s most sophisticated technology Saab BioPower flex-fuel engine. The new 2.0-liter turbo BioPower uses direct injection and variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust sides to further improve fuel consumption, emissions and performance.
This engine offers environmental benefits by being able to operate with both the E85 (85% bioethanol, 15% gasoline) and / or gasoline and, in all proportions. In both configurations, it offers a maximum output of 220 hp and a torque of 350 Nm at 2500 rpm.
It is available in two wheel drive system with Saab XWD in all finishes.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Stop & Go for a more comfortable ride.
This optional feature for models with automatic transmission allows the driver to select a cruising speed constant and vary speed automatically selected to maintain
a safe distance with the vehicle ahead. The distance control is possible to 180 km / h to a stop. This system offers a more relaxed driving and less stressful, especially in slow traffic and congested traffic conditions. The driver can choose from three options for calculating distance.
A radar sensor in the grill emits a beam to measure the distance to the vehicle ahead. If the gap falls below the expected level, the throttle position is adjusted and the engine brake is applied. Once restored the proper distance, the car accelerates and rises to the preset speed. If a large braking required, a visual alert is triggered and a beep sounds to alert the driver
The ACC system will be available later in the course of the year and requires the presence of the vision system head-Pilot HUD.
Finally, the exterior color palette from seven to 11 colors.
