So yes, the Peugeot RCZ frontally attack the Audi TT. That is its mission clearly identified. To say that these two cut CDs are similar, there are far away. If the front, the RCZ features the familiar brand identity (with a wide mouth, surmounted by a lion redesigned and rejuvenated, they now appear on all future models), seen from behind, she takes accents ‘baby’ Porsche Boxster, but more slender. Chassis: to each according to his desires

From the first roll, you feel instantly that the chassis engineers were given away to their heart to prove to all their legendary skills without too much stress or compromise, as is often the case. One downside though: the THP 200 is equipped with a “music box” that artificially boosts the engine noise. Funny five minutes and then quickly tiresome, especially in very high speeds, which can reach up to 6800 rpm. Too bad we can not mute … And then make a small doubt vis-Ã -vis the performance characteristics (1000 meters standing start in 27.5 seconds, top speed of 237 km / h) that we don ‘ have not been able to control with the necessary rigor, but we still have seemed a trifle optimistic. A check by its marketing in June.
… Running a diesel!
And then the HDI 163 hp. Let us say right away: it does not disappoint us, far from it. First the engine is quieter, more relaxing in the long run. Then he shows him, a fine catch of a nice going, we do not know him on sedans or minivans necessarily much heavier. Well served by its 6-speed box, it lends itself very readily to a truly sporty driving. And between us, its torque is higher than that of THP 200, and comparable plan (4000 rpm) it does not surprise us that it delivers as much power as the petrol engine, same turbo as well.

So yes, the frame is a bit less sharp, the nose is a little heavier input curve, understeer is a bit stronger, which triggers the ESP earlier.
But suffice it to disconnect (which is rare!) And to manage congestion in the nose to get really high speeds that rival many could envy …

First and foremost the Audi TT, the designated opponent. Considerably more bourgeois sport markedly less, substantially more expensive too, for a comparable engine. For example, TT 2.0 TFSI 200 hp is priced € 36 540, and a 2.0 TDI 170 hp (four-wheel drive it is true), € 38 890. A big difference that should make much difference … the benefit of the French!
